UFC 110 Bonuses: Sotiropoulos, Stevenson, Velasquez, and Lytle Earn $50K Awards
George Sotiropoulos, Joe Stevenson, Cain Velasquez, and Chris Lytle each earned $50,000 fight-night bonuses for their showings on Saturday at “UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez”.
Sotiropoulos, a rising lightweight and Australian native, upset the former lightweight challenger Stevenson in a technical battle contested primarily on the canvas. Though Sotiropouslos outmatched Stevenson en route to a unanimous decision, the exciting bout earned the pair “Fight of the Night” honors.
Velasquez scored “Knockout of the Night” by dominating former UFC and PRIDE champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, before knocking him down halfway through the opening round and finishing him with punches on the ground.
Lytle earned “Submission of the Night” by default after securing the only sub on the card, but was still deserving of the honor, as his swift kneebar on the UFC 110 preliminary card left Brian Foster writhing in pain with a damaged knee.

Lytles sub was B-E-A-UTIFUL! One of those subs you train for but never think you’ll get
i know, that seriously was one of the best submission of the nights in a long long time
It was. But what would be better is if we could watch two guys get choked to sleep in one night.
Oh, wait, we did see that last month?
I thought Bonnar vs Kryst should have been fight of the night, but I still enjoyed the Stevenson vs Sotirop fight. Bader had a nice knockout but I can see where Cain deserves knockou of the night since he did knockout a guy who is impossible to knockout. That was a nice Sub by Lytle.
Except for the 2 KOs in his last 3 fights, he sure is impossible to KO…
I think Wandy/Bisping should’ve been FotN. Sot/daddy and krystof/bonnar wrent all that competitive
Sot/Stevenson got FotN because they put on an great show of grappling, especially the 10th Planet clinic that Sotiropoulos put on. Giving them the bonus was Dana’s way of rewarding Sotiropoulus for putting on such a great performance.
I’m pleasantly surprised that Dana dropped FoTN on Sotiropoulos and Joe Daddy, because I always get the impression that he’s a much bigger fan of the stand-up than the ground game, plus with Wand and Bisping it would have been easy to give it to them…
