The MMA world is reeling from the news that Bellator featherweight Jordan Parsons has passed away, after the fighter was reportedly struck by a vehicle this past weekend in Florida.
Parsons was sent to the hospital in critical condition after the alleged, hit-and-run incident. On Monday it was reported Parsons was in a coma, and that doctors had amputated his right leg.
On Wednesday, however, Bellator announced that the 25 year-old fighter has passed away. The promotion’s President, Scott Coker, said this in a statement that was released:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons. Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.”
Parsons turned pro in 2010 and accumulated a record of 11-2.
