UFC Chatter: Bisping Speaks Out on Evans and Ortiz

Posted by Kris Karkoski on Oct 8, 2007 at 4:59 pm ET11 Comments

After months of expecting a Tito Ortiz–Rashad Evans rematch to headline UFC 78, it was announced a few days ago that instead, Michael Bisping would be facing Evans in the main bout. Ortiz claims to have declined a rematch with Evans because he is currently injured and wishes to take some time off to fully heal before fighting again. Michael Bisping thinks otherwise.

In an article by Mark Gilbert of the Sun UK, Bisping had the following to say about his upcoming fight:

“It’s a great fight for me and someone had to step up and take on Rashad seeing as Tito Ortiz didn’t have the balls to face him again. Rashad’s the toughest opponent of my career and seems to get better and better with each fight.”

bisping should concentrate on fighting not worrying about ortiz.i like bisping but sometimes i think his attitude is wrong.and after his last fight this isnt the time to be taking shots at people.

  • SCOTCHYDOW says:

I hope Bisbing beats Evans so he has to fight Tito. Bisbing is still mas a Tito for taking Hamills coaching more seriously than his. Don’t start again Bisbing, I’ve just gotten over you being a douche after the Hamill match. I was a fan of yours.

  • Red says:

I think that the winner of this fight might fight Tito. Hopefully Tito recovers and fights a top contender like Silva or Jardine.

  • tito says:

Bisping is an amateur. How dare him say that, he’s not even an a-list fighter like tito plus he sucked against hamill. Ortiz can kick his ass anytime. I hope he fights tito and gets his ass whooped.

  • Accomando says:

    Tito would beat Bisping, badly.

And you thought Hammill had a size advantage on Bisping, Tito is a monster at 205 and he would kill the brit.

  • Sean says:

Bisping is a good fighter.. Just not as good as his mouth.. I hope Evans beats him and gets his rematch with Tito. Hopefully tito will be at 100% and not have to grab the cage 7 or 8 times to stop takedowns.

  • Josh Savage says:

During the Ultimate fighter show I rooted for Bisping, but I feel that Matt Hamil was robbed. I watched that fight and felt it wasn’t even close. Bisping won that fight cause it was in the UK or wherever the hell they fought in Europe. I was furious with the decision and couldn’t believe the class Hamil showed after the fight. I almost want Bisping to win just so Tito could beat his ass. Bisping is weak on the ground and I’d like to see Tito slam his ass. Although a rematch against Evans would be good to see again. I didn’t see the first one but I heard Tito should have won the fight. Bisping shouldn’t take cheap shots at Tito after his cheap victory. I’m wondering what would happen if Tito and Chuck fought again what would happen? Has Liddell’s skill diminished that much or is competition that much better? He looks out of shape. I think Tito would own Keith Jardine if they fought but for some reason when Chuck looks unstopable when he gets in the ring with Tito. I hope Tito makes a comeback and stirs up the division.

  • Ron says:

I would say if a fighter is injured then why talk smack about him, not to knock Rashad Evans but Tito has fought the best of the best including Wanderlai, Couture, Liddel to name a few. Tito doesn’t dog anybody and Bisbing better watch himself because if you wind up on the ground with Tito on top of you, your in a world of hurt. As for the Liddel comment made earlier his skills haven’t depleated people have just figured him out. Liddel needs to learn different styles, he can’t just lay back and wait for someone to walk into his looping punches because everyone knows he just a counterpuncher. Jardine pummeled him with leg kicks in which he didn’t check a single one.

  • Sean says:

people who say tito beat rashad are just fans of his or just take his side cause he is a big name. Rashad owned Tito in that fight. If tito didn’t grab the cage every time he was about to get taken down then the fight would have been a hands down unanimous decision for Rashad. I’m tired of everyone sayin Tito was hurt or this and that. People need to just give Rashad credit as a fighter.

Bisping did get owned by Hamil as well. For the trash talking he did after the fight i hope Rashad stomps a mudhole in his butt.

  • scotchydow says:

I can’t believe you think Rashad owned Tito in that fight. Tito was genuinely hurt for that fight, but he still would have won if he hadn’t grabbed the cage. He deserved the point deduction for the cage grab, but I don’t think Rashad did enough to warrent a rematch with Tito just because he got a draw because of a point deduction. Rashad is a tough, GROWING fighter. I just don’t think he is top level yet. Forrest Griffin and Kieth Jardine have proven themselves as far as TUF alumni go, but Rashad just isn’t to their level yet. Put him in the ring with Houston Alexander and if he beats him, I will give him the credit that you want the rest of us to give him. If anybody beats Alexander, I will give them credit. I think that guy is the most dangerous man in the light heavyweight division right now, and he deserves a title shot. If he wins his upcoming fight, I think we will probablly see him vs. Rampage which should be a bloody WAR!

  • Bill says:

I think that Jardine, Evans and Bisping are all up and coming fighters. With that being said I think Jardine did not win the fight against liddell and evans did not fight to a draw with Ortiz. I am sick and tired of Jardine and Evans talking trash about the people they fight not being in the same league as them, evans was only one season ahead of Bisping in the Ultimate fighter. Jardine talked that **** about Bisping and about his own fight with Houston and got his ass handed to him in 48 seconds. I personally hope that Evans beats Bisping so we can see him get his ass kickedd by someone like Dan Henderson. Who by the way won against Jackson.
