It looks like Conor McGregor may not have been trolling after all…

Yes, if you missed it, earlier today McGregor made headlines after he tweeted out he’s “decided to retire young”.┬áThe comments were likely viewed by most as some sort of joke, since, you know, McGregor is only 27 year’s old, and was scheduled to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 200. It’s a bout that the Irish star was reportedly obsessed in getting, and the UFC granted him his wish.

Well, since the tweet went up, there were reports that perhaps it wasn’t just a troll job after all. Now, however, UFC boss man Dana White has revealed on ESPN’s SportsCenter that McGregor’s been pulled from the July 9t h card.

According to White, McGregor “didn’t want to come to Las Vegas and be part of any promotional” work, because he doesn’t want to interrupt the training he’s doing in Iceland. The UFC President said no fighter is exempt from these obligations. White proceeded to add that he doesn’t know if McGregor is in fact retiring, and that only the latter can answer that question…

Now, one would think that perhaps things will simmer down here, and McGregor’s retirement will be a brief one. After all, it’s pretty hard to imagine that the featherweight champ has decided to walk away from the game at this stage, over a disagreement regarding press conferences.

But, then again, you never know right? If McGregor does return to the UFC fold, one could certainly conclude that the recent rumors about a rift between him and the company were spot on.
