Sometimes, just sometimes, holding out for what you want can work out…
Yes, Tyron Woodley has been calling for a title now for months, ever since he was promised one back in October, and looks like it’s going to happen. According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, UFC boss man Dana White attended RFA 37 last night in Sioux Falls, aired on AXS TV. White was interviewed during the broadcast, and he reportedly said that Woodley is “more than likely” going to fight welterweight champ Robbie Lawler next.
White said they’re targeting UFC 201 or UFC 202 for the match-up. Those cards don’t have dates and venues just yet. UFC 200, as you likely know, will take place on July 9th.
So there you go. Since there was a lot of talk about Lawler – Carlos Condit II, Lawler – GSP, and before that, Lawler – Conor McGregor and even Lawler – Stephen Thompson, things weren’t looking good for Woodley. The powerful wrestler was told he’d receive a title shot in October, after Johny Hendricks dropped out of their scheduled bout due to weight cutting issue.
