UFC on FOX 19 Loses Dan Henderson – Lyoto Machida II, After Latter Admits to Taking Banned Substance

Lyoto Machida

UFC on FOX 19 has been dealt another big blow, as three days out from the event, it’s been announced that Lyoto Machida will no longer rematch Dan Henderson on Saturday.

According to a statement the UFC has released, Machida recently admitted that he took a banned substance, and as a result, the bout with “Hendo” is off. You can read the entire statement below:

The UFC organization was made aware today by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency  (USADA), the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, that Lyoto Machida declared the usage of a banned substance during an out-of-competition sample collection last week. Machida stated that he was unaware that the substance was prohibited both in and out of competition and, in accordance with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, his disclosure of usage will be taken into consideration by USADA during any potential results management and adjudication process.

Given this information, UFC officials have elected to remove Machida from his scheduled bout against Dan Henderson this Saturday in Tampa, Fla. Henderson will be re-booked for a new bout in the near future.

Obviously this is very unfortunate news, especially something like this goes down just days out from a card.

Recently UFC brass were forced to scramble to find a replacement opponent for Khabib Nurmagomedov, after Tony Ferguson withdrew due to injury. Darrell Horcher agreed to take the lightweight contender’s place.

UFC on FOX 19 will take place in Tampa, Florida.
