Penn announced he was coming out of retirement several months back, and the 37 year-old was expected to fight earlier this year. But, after a former employee accused the UFC hall of famer of sexually assaulting his girlfriend, the UFC proceeded to launch an investigation.
In a recent report from Yahoo.com, however, UFC COO Lawrence Epstein relayed that the company did not find any evidence regarding the accusations. It should be noted that Penn has also denied the aforementioned allegations. As a result, Penn has been cleared to fight. White confirmed the news of Penn’s bout with Siver in the same report.
Penn will be fighting for the first time since June, 2014, when he was taken out by Frankie Edgar. Siver hasn’t competed since June, 2015, when he lost via UD to Tatsuya Kawajiri.
UFC 199 will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman.
