After about a month of speculation and discussion as to who Miesha Tate will fight next, the new bantamweight champ has been booked for her first title defense.
After Tate (18-5) choked out Holly Holm at UFC 196 last month to grab the 135 title, there was a lot of talk as to whether her next bout would come against Ronda Rousey. But, the former champ isn’t planning to return to the Octagon until November or December, and Tate wanted to fight in the interim. She got her wish.
Nunes (12-4) also fought at UFC 196 and decisioned Valentina Shevchenko. The #4 ranked bantamweight has won three in a row.
So, there you have it. UFC 200 will feature two title fights now, as Jose Aldo will also face Frankie Edgar for the interim 145 title. In the main event, Conor McGregor will rematch Nate Diaz at 170 pounds.
