Khabib Nurmagomedov Takes Verbal Swipe at Rafael dos Anjos, Following Champ’s Call Out

Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov is the last man to defeat the UFC’s reigning lightweight champ, Rafael dos Anjos, and does “The Eagle” mind reminding people of that fact? No. No he doesn’t (and nor should he).

On Tuesday, it was announced that Nurmagomedov’s scheduled opponent for April 16th, Tony Ferguson, has been forced to withdraw due to injury. As a result, a light-heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira will now headline UFC on FOX 19.

Not long after, RDA tweeted out the following comments, and Mr. Nurmagomedov posted the subsequent reply:

Ouch. Now, there are certainly a lot of people who believe Nurmagomedov may in fact be the best lightweight on the planet. After all, Nurmagomedov is 22-0, and he decisioned RDA back in April, 2014. Since then, dos Anjos has defeated the likes of Donald Cerrone (again), Benson Henderson, Anthony Pettis and Nate Diaz.

So, until RDA gets that loss to Khabib back, there are going to be some who agree with the latter. But, there are certainly questions surrounding Nurmagomedov, considering he’s been off for nearly two years and has incurred serious knee injuries during that time.

It should also be noted that Cerrone has also offered to fight Nurmagomedov, but in this case, “Cowboy’s” willing to fight on April 16th…Will the UFC go¬†with that match-up?
