For the third time in “The Ultimate Fighter” history, a season will award the show’s winner a title shot.
The UFC and FOX have announced that TUF 24 will award the competition’s winner a crack at the flyweight championship. Tryouts for the show are set for April 25th in Las Vegas, and the season will begin August 31st on FOX Sports 1.
TUF 24 will not, as is usually the case, feature UFC fighters as the season’s coaches. The season will reportedly feature rotating and or actual coaches instead.
The championship fight will take place at the show’s finale, which will be in December. As you likely know, current champ Demterious Johnson is scheduled to fight Henry Cejudo at UFC 197 on April 23rd.
So, there you have it. Kind of an interesting twist no? TUF 4 saw Matt Serra lock up a welterweight title shot by winning the show, and TUF 20 crowned Carla Esparza as the strawweight champ.
