Rising bantamweights Antonio Banuelos and Damacio Page are set to battle at World Extreme Cagefighting’s pay-per-view debut, “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber,” on April 24 in Sacramento, California.
Banuelos (17-5), a training partner of Chuck Liddell who announced his addition to WEC 48 earlier this week, has won his last three-straight, rebounding from an early-2008 loss to Manny Tapia with a KO win outside the organization before returning to the WEC last year with wins over Scott Jorgensen and Kenji Osawa.
Page (12-4) is 3-1 in WEC since debuting in early-2008, losing only to current bantamweight champ Brian Bowles, while earning wins over Scott Jorgensen, Marcos Galvao, and most-recently in October Scott Jorgensen. He had been scheduled to fight Takeya Mizugaki in December, but an injury forced him out of the bout.
WEC 48 is headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber, and also includes lightweight title-holder Ben Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone and former 145-pound champ Mike Brown vs. Manny Gamburyan.
