“Shogun” Undergoes Successful Knee Operation
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has underwent a successful surgery on his knee to repair his ACL, which was injured prior to his loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 76. He will likely be ready to return to the UFC in early-2008.
Dr. Mario Namba, the surgeon who performed the surgery, had this to say:
“The surgery was a success. I’m following Mauricio for the last few months and this problem was identified before his last fight. As a professional, he decided to keep his agreement to fight and I respect that. He’s young and very strong. I’m sure that his recovery will be fast and he will be ready to fight again very soon.”
“Shogun” also issued a statement regarding the surgery and his loss to Griffin:
“I know about my mistakes in the fight against Forrest, I will never use this surgery as an excuse for my lost. I have all the responsibility for the bad result, now I just want to look for the future, I would like to thank all my fans that are supporting me in this difficult moment and I promise you all that I will be back better than ever, I know that I lost the first battle but not the “war” for the UFC belt.”

Shogun is a lucky guy; his wife is a good looking girl. I hope Shogun in his next fight comes in healthy and fights the way we saw him fight in Pride. Maybe Tito will fight him next; Tito has called Shogun out before.
I hope he comes back (at full strength) soon. As Rua/Ortiz match would be a dream fight for sure.
shut up and accept your loss alraeady… dont be a douche
The white ass forest got lucky… Wait till you see the healthy Shogun early 2008… I’m going to love laughing at all you Hatoraders… I wish you the best in your recovery Shogun…
Shogun is a stud. I am no hater, I just am glad it was Forrest that beat him, and nit some A-hole like Rashad, or Bisbing. I am also glad he wasn’t in there at 50% with someone like Houston Alexander. Rua could have REALLY gotten hurt.
