UFC FN 87: Andrei Arlovski Has Zero Plans to Work Around Alistair Overeem, “I’m The #1 Priority For The Team”

Andrei Arlovski

If anyone thought Andrei Arlovski might go out of his way to avoid Alistair Overeem at Jackson-Wink MMA, in advance of their May 8th scrap, think again.

The heavyweights have been booked to fight at UFC Fight Night 87, which will go down in Rotterdam, Holland. Since the two are teammates, one might think they’d take steps to avoid training at the gym, when there other guy’s there right?

Well, recently Arlovski spoke with MMA Latest. The former champ was asked if he’s changed up his schedule to avoid crossing paths with Overeem, and Arlovski said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“F**k no, absolutely not,” Arlovski said. “I’m training on my schedule. If I have to be there in the morning, I will be there in the morning. If I have to be there at night, I will be there at night. If I have to be there all f***ing day, I will be there all f***ing day. I’m number one priority for the team and that’s it. Period.”

It doesn’t get much clearer than that huh?

Now is Arlovski really the #1 priority for the team? Maybe? It’s hard to say. There’s no doubt that “The Pitbull” has been a member of Jackson – Wink MMA longer than Overeem.

Arlovski was also asked to weigh-in on Overeem’s abilities, and he credited the Dutch star for having great kickboxing. He also noted that “Reem” has been working on his wrestling a lot, and is expecting the latter to try to take him down. Guess we’ll see.

Overeem is currently riding a three fight winning streak, and Arlovski is coming off a stoppage loss to Stipe Miocic.
