Michael Bisping Wants Title Shot, And Let Dana White Know It

Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping didn’t take out Anderson Silva in highlight reel fashion at UFC Fight Night 84, but the perennial contender clearly believes he should be next in line for a title shot.

Leading up to the highly anticipated bout, the consensus was that Bisping could lock up a championship bout, if he scored a dominant, clear cut win. Although that didn’t happen, “The Count” did impress many by battling his way to a UD victory over the former middleweight champ.

Well, as one would expect, Bisping hasn’t abandoned his title shot campaign, just because he didn’t finish the legend. Not only has Bisping been calling for a title shot publicly, the British star says he asked UFC boss man Dana White directly. Recently Bisping appeared on “The MMA Hour” and reported this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“He said ‘what’s next?'” Bisping said, while referring to his call with White. “I said ‘you know I want that title shot, Dana.’ He said ‘let’s see how things play out.’ I said ‘Dana, I think I deserve that shot.’ Of course he said ‘let’s see how these things play out.’ I said ‘you son of a b—-‘ But, I’m happy to wait, I deserve the next shot.”

Bisping went on to argue that since he’s won four of his last five fights, and is coming off a win over Silva, he’s at the front of the title shot line. That maybe true, right now…

What if, however, the champ Luke Rockhold defends the belt when he takes on Chris Weidman on June 4th? And what if Vitor Belfort bombs out “Jacare” Souza on May 14th? Since Belfort holds a win over Rockhold, you could see the UFC taking a long look at that fight.

Who knows? If Souza destroys Belfor the UFC could also tap him for a crack at the belt. But, all this aside, Bisping might be closer than he’s ever been before of fighting for the 185 belt.
