Pulver-Vazquez on WEC 47 Main Card; Antonio Banuelos Added to WEC 48
The return of veteran Jens Pulver at WEC 47 on March 6 in Columbus, Ohio against fellow featherweight Javier Vazquez, previously slated for the event’s unaired preliminary card, will now air live on Versus, as the televised main card was recently expanded to feature five bouts.
Also including on the Versus broadcast is a headlining matchup between bantamweight champ Brian Bowles and challenger Dominick Cruz, as well as Miguel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez, Deividas Taurosevicius vs. LC Davis, and Bart Palaszewski vs. Karen Darabedyan.
In other WEC news, rising bantamweight Antonio Banuelos recently announced on MMAjunkie Radio that he’ll next fight at “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” on April 24 in Sacramento, California. His opponent was not announced.

Seeing Jens Pulver in the prelims would have been just awful…
When you’ve lost 6 of your last 7 fights you don’t deserve to be on a main card.
Wow, I had to look that up to see if that stat was right. It is hard to justify him being on the main card, but honestly, if you asked most mma fans to name 10 guys in the WEC, I guarantee his name would probably come up 80% of the time. Despite the record, he’s still a draw and fan favorite. But, damn, losing 6 of the last 7 is pretty awful.
Half of those losses came to Urijah Faber [twice] and BJ Penn. The combined record [at the times they fought Pulver] of the other men he lost to is something like 23-4, so its not like Pulver is slumming.
He’s facing tough competition at first 155 and then 145, so maybe we should cut Little Evil some slack before jeering him into the prelims, no?
I’m a Pulver fan but he really hasn’t looked like the old 155 champ in a long time. I’m glad to see him still fighting but I just think there are more deserving fighters on the WEC roster.
wow no kidding, hes kind of the brett favre of the wec hasnt he announced retirement more than once. i always route for the guy though.
The difference being Favre has won more than 1 of the last 7 games :)
