Kongo vs. Nogueira Moved To 2008
A rumored matchup between top-contenders Cheick Kongo and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will likely be moved from UFC 79 in late-December to an early-2008 card reports Fox Sports:
With UFC running so many shows, it made sense to try and shore up another show with a main-event caliber match. The Las Vegas show already has two championship matches (Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes at welterweight, and a lightweight title match with B.J. Penn facing either Sean Sherk or Joe Stevenson), along with the strong possibility of a Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddell match.
UFC has a January show scheduled for Newcastle, England, and a Super Bowl weekend show set for Las Vegas, and Nogueira vs. Kongo will likely take place on one of those dates. In addition, there have been negotiations for a January show in Montreal, but that isn’t finalized.

The UFC 79 card was shaping up to be a hell of an event. Two title fights, Chuck vs. Wandy, and a top-contender bout on one card is simply two much. The UFC has three four rumored PPVs between Dec. 29th and Feb 2nd so they need to conserve at least one of the fights (perhaps the lightweight title bout or chuck-wandy) to put as the main event of one of the cards.
I agree with both of you. Maybe the December card was shaping up to be something too good to be true. The Kongo vs. Nogueira fight is an interesting one. I think Kongo will keep it standing and pick Nogueira apart and win by decision.
the newcastle card will be interesting to see as i dont live to far from there so will be hoping for a big fight or 2!
