UFC 196: Nate Diaz Tells Conor McGregor “Rich Kids Shouldn’t Fight”

As soon as the UFC confirmed that Nate Diaz was going to fight Conor McGregor, ‘this is going to be crazy’ was stated around the world. Has the lead-up to Saturday’s bout delivered on the buzz? I should say so.

Yes, since Conor McGregor is likely the best, trash talker in the game, and because Diaz is one of the more outspoken fighters on the UFC roster, everyone understood that the pre-fight was going to be ‘testy’. At the first press conference for UFC 196, McGregor and Diaz traded verbal shots, and they did so again at the latest presser. As they squared off, things got really heated, and the two had to be separated.

Well, the fun didn’t end there. Afterwards Diaz and McGregor appeared on “FOX Sports Live”, and of course, their back-and-forth continued. McGregor seemed to get particularly bothered, however, when Diaz said the following (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“You’re a rich kid,” Diaz said. “Rich kids shouldn’t fight ever. Real people fight. Real people fight. Not [expletive] rich kids. You were born rich.”

To which, the Irish fighter responded:

“[Expletive] you, you don’t know me,” said McGregor. “You don’t know where the [expletive] I came from. I’ll ride into Stockton and take everyone out. Bunch of snitches in Stockton. I never heard of Stockton in my life.”

Yup. Today’s weigh-ins and tomorrow’s fight should be pretty, pretty interesting. You can watch the aforementioned segment below.

UFC 196 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
