Aaron Simpson vs. Chris Leben Likely for UFC 114 on May 29
A middleweight bout between Chris Leben and Aaron Simpson is expected to take place on May 29 at UFC 114 in Las Vegas. Simpson announced his return at UFC 114 today on Facebook, and The Ground and Pound Show has since reported that Leben will be his opponent.
Simpson (7-0), a two-time All-American wrestler at Arizon State, has improved to 7-0 with three-straight UFC victories over Tim McKenzie, Ed Herman, and, most-recently in January, Tom Lawlor.
Leben (19-6), who returned from a nine-month steroid suspension last August with a loss to Jake Rosholt, snapped a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision over Jay Silva last month.
UFC 114, which airs live on pay-per-view from the Mandalay Bay Events Center, coincides with the second UFC Fan Expo and is expected to be headlined by a bout between former light heavyweight title-holders and rival TUF 10 coaches Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, while Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is also in the works for the card.

Me likey.
Leben is like a rash that just won’t clear up…Not sure exactly what you’re trying to say there, but that seems like fighter bashing. Giving you the benefit of a doubt, I see how you’re just using a metaphor, but if that’s the case it was a poor choice. – Justin
Understood.
And maybe I should have said something like, “Leben keeps turning up like a bad penny”, in reference to the number of times he’s been written off by the MMA media and keeps surviving to fight another day in the UFC…
That’s what I thought you were getting at, no worries, mainly I didn’t want some troll coming along and jumping on it having taken it as a slight to Leben.
simpson should take this one
i wonder if you can submit suggestions to the UFC for a theme for a season of TUF. Take all of the d-bags from the various seasons and have them compete for a 5 figure undercard contract!
We could have Leben, Browning (and lil Browning), JT Money, the sally that “passed out” in the sauna when he couldnt cut weight, etc. There are easily enough of these people from seasons past to fill up a TUF roster. I would watch every episode.
That would be Gabe Ruediger…that guy was something else
Gabe Ruediger won last night at Tachi Palace Fights, FYI.
nice.. The house wuld be intersting not the fights.
A-train will dominate him worse then when jake rosholt dominated him
lmfao i would watch every episode too but then again i do already!!
Leben should talk some trash and try and get simpson to stand with him. If Simpson wants to take this one to the ground he will, and it won’t take long after that. Leben should get cut after this, but as we’ve seen in lots of these TUF guys he most likely won’t.
i love how many people on various sites have already said, its lebens last match in ufc and are happy about it. I dont think he will lose and get booted. He is to exciting….waiting to see if anyone will ever knock him out again, and then for the guys that start kickin his ass can lose at any second..wit his heavy hands. …simpson will hit leben a lot and take him down for the first round..round 2 leben will catch him and its game over.
If the UFC was going to get rid of him it would have been after testing positive for steroids and losing at 89, or when he came back after his suspension and lost his second in a row. I don’t think he’s going anywhere any time soon.
Leben is an excellent gatekeeper for the 185 division, and I think that is why he still has a job with the UFC at this point, and probably for some time into the future.
i always route 4 leben just cuz hes from the northwest but everytime his fights do come on then its time to go to the bathroom or grab another beer or flip the burgers or something, unless hes gettin his ass handed 2 him or hes unconscious from a choke his fights arent that entertaining 2 me. GOO LEBEN!!
I don’t get how he’s not exciting. Every Leben fight I can remember is a brawl where at least one dude gets cut. I’m not the biggest Leben fan, but my butt is in the seat with a beer in hand “rooting” for an exciting outcome.
If we see the Aaron simpson from the Ed Herman fight I dont see leben standing much of a chance. Leben does have an iron chin and may be able to control this match on the ground, because of his size advantage.
Leben will KO Simpson.
Aaron Simpson is overrated.
Lebon won’t get cut but he may decide to retire IF he loses. Regrettably I do see that happening, however I will be cheering for him. For him being a d-bag yeah he was on the show but has come along way since then. I personally wouldn’t put him in the same catagory as Brownie, Taylor and the such.
I agree, Leben has come a long way since being on the show, and I actually find myself pulling for him lately, because of that.
