Folks aren’t used to seeing Gegard Mousasi fired up, but following his win over Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 84, he had more than a few things to say…
Mousasi worked his way to a one sided, UD win over Leites, but some boo birds weren’t happy with his performance. Mousasi responded to those critics after the win, by noting how tough Leites is, and that he needed to play it “safe”. Especially since Mousasi was taken out by Uriah Hall in his last outing.
“I would like to fight Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort… Machida, when he’s not on steroids and he’s not greased up,” Mousasi said. “No, because it’s true. The guy was f*cking greased up, and he looked like a 15-year-old boy when I fought him. Obviously he was in Brazil. He was so f*cking slippery.”
“People now are surely going to say that I’m a bad loser, but the guy didn’t look normal for a f*cking 38-year-old, and greased up all the way!” he added. “He was greased up. Once he sweat, it was greasy. Even Luke Rockhold said that he was greased up when they fought.”
Wow. Considering Machida has never been flagged for PEDs, chances are these comments aren’t going to sit well with his camp and his legions of fans. Machida, who is booked to fight Dan Henderson on April 16th, worked his way to a decision win over Mousasi in 2014.
Since then, Mousasi has gone 4-2, while Machida has put together a 1-3 run.
All this aside, it will be interesting to see who Mousasi faces next. How about Tim Kennedy? The latter is sitting in the #6 spot at 185 and Mousasi is #9.
