Up-and-coming heavyweights Todd Duffee and Mike Russow have agreed to square off on May 29 at UFC 114 in Las Vegas, according to Caged In.

Both fighters made their UFC debuts in August at UFC 102, with Duffee (5-0) scoring a UFC-record 7-second knockout of Tim Hague to improve to 5-0, while Russow (12-1) won his eighth-straight with a unanimous decision over Justin McCully.

UFC 114 coincides with the second UFC Fan Expo and is also expected the feature a matchup between former light heavyweight champs Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans as well as Diego Sanchez’s return to welterweight against John Hathaway.

    “FEEEED MEEEE, Dana!”

    Well, Slick, consider yourself fed.
Russow is no joke, and has nearly 3 times the cage time that you do.
He’s beaten the usual suspect UFC stepping stones like Jason Guida and Justin McCully, and at 33 doesn’t really have the time to waste getting warmed up in the UFC, so that tells me he might be more mature, focused, and dedicated at this point, not to mention having a broader skillset than Duffee’s “It’s Clobberin’ Time!” approach.
And Russow is a Chicago cop, which speaks a lot to the man’s temperment and dicipline.
Plus he isn’t so full of himself and swerved by the “fastest KO in UFC history”.

What Duffee has going for him is youth [he's almost a decade younger than Russow] and training camp/coaching [reportedly Xtreme Couture].
And by all reports his confidence is somewhere in the stratosphere after 102, and in the UFC a lot of times the guy talking the talk also walks the walk, especially when we’re talking HWs of the simian size.

Lots to mull over here. Duffee is on a roll, as is Russow. Both men fight at or above 250, which makes them the near-future of the HW class.
They were supposed to throwdown previously, but that fight got waved off for [I think] Duffee-Hague.
Another thing going for Duffee is that he goes with the flow. The guy had had like 3 fights get yanked or changed [Al-Turk, Russow, Buentello] due to a variety of reasons.

IMO the winner here gets a long hard look from Dana and Joe Silva, and the loser goes back to the prelims to start again, unless they drop a FoTN or something close to it…

this is a Great Match up. If Duffee has a stong showing in this one like he did at 102 then i think they should match him up with someone like the loser Dos Santos Vs Gonzaga or someone who has the Fast KO power like him.

i think im pulling for RUSSOw is this fight.. mainly because he shares his name with my dad.. only without the w.. :)
