Bellator 149 Scores Big Time Ratings For Promotion

Kelsey Mowatt

Ken Shamrock

Bellator 149’s headlining fights were widely criticized before and after they went down, but they did deliver the promotion and Spike some big ratings. Surprised?

According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, Friday’s event set new television ratings for Bellator. The event averaged ¬†1,964,000 viewers and peaked at 2.5 million, when the Kimbo Slice – DADA 5000 bout was taking place. 2.4 million people watched Ken Shamrock – Royce Gracie III.

Bellator’s previous record was 2.3 million viewers, which was the peak audience for Shamrock – Slice. That fight took place on June 19th. The card averaged¬†1,580,000 viewers.

Yup, this is why Bellator went with this card and these controversial match-ups. Question is, after how things unfolded in the cage, will they go this route again?
