Bellator 149 had plenty of doubters leading up to Friday’s card, and the event’s headliners likely didn’t change their minds…
In the main event, Royce Gracie faced fellow pioneer and legend Ken Shamrock. Gracie caught Shamrock with a couple of knees not long into the fight, and brought about the ref’s intervention, with punches from above. Problem was that one of the knees appeared to hit Shamrock low.
Shamrock was outraged by the stoppage, and accused Gracie of hitting him low deliberately. But after a few minutes, the 52 year-old fighter calmed down, and embraced Gracie.
As many feared would be the case, the co-headliner between Kimbo Slice and DADA 5000 proved to be a very underwhelming, lackluster bout. The heavyweights were gassed by the end of round one, and finally in round three, an exhausted DADA 5000 hit the deck after taking shots from Slice.
Here are the official results for Bellator 149, which took place at Houston’s Toyota Center.
