Ronda Rousey has relayed before that she was out on her feet not long into her bout with Holly Holm, but in a new interview, the former bantamweight champ detailed the loss, as well as the grief she felt afterwards.
The star recently appeared on “The Ellen Show”, and while talking about her first and only loss at UFC 193, Rousey said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I got clipped in the first exchange so I was knocked out on my feet like the first time I got hit,” Rousey said. “It’s hard to really know what’s going on. In that first hit I cut up my whole mouth and I knocked my teeth loose. Guys fight for five five-minute rounds, they are teeing off each other faces the whole time and nothing like that happens. It’s just destiny, it had to go down that way.”
The Judoka also said that she was having trouble judging distance right, as a result of the heavy punches Holm was landing. An emotional Rousey also talked about the bitter disappointment and anguish she felt immediately after the loss. You can watch the segment below.
