More than a few people believe Rafael dos Anjos has the tools to beat Conor McGregor, and according to Eddie Alvarez, the lightweight champ could crush the star provided he implements the right strategy…
RDA and McGregor will throw down on March 5th in the headliner of UFC 196. In order to become the king of two weight divisions, however, McGregor needs to defeat one of the most complete fighters in MMA.
Well, Alvarez clearly believes that if RDA utilizes his wrestling and top game, he’ll cruise through the heavy handed fighter. While appearing on “The MMA Hour” recently, Alvarez had this to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I hate when guys who are from a BJJ background and a good wrestling background abandon their whole base and their whole fundamental because a lot of guys around them are telling them that they’re really good strikers. I hope RDA doesn’t do that. I hope he sticks to what he’s good at and wins the fight in a dominant fashion the way he can, the way I feel like a lot of guys can that aren’t doing it against Conor.”
“I feel like he’ll look foolish. I honestly feel it could be an embarrassment. It could be like everyone in the crowd going, ‘Wow, that was it? Why didn’t anybody else do that?”
It could be an edge of your seat, ‘where were you when’, kind of night. No question.
