Jon Jones is back in the news again, and not for reasons that are going to make the UFC brass smile. Especially since the promotion just announced that Jones will rematch his rival, and reigning light-heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier, on April 23rd.
Albuquerque outlet, KRQE News 13, is reporting that Jones will appear in court Wednesday after being cited for driving without a license, proof of insurance and registration. According to the report this happened on January 31st.
The UFC has yet to comment on the situation. The former champ remains on probation, following his highly publicized, hit-and-run incident last year.
Jones has yet to fight since he decisioned Cormier in January, 2015.
Update: A representative from Jones’ management team is reporting to MMA Junkie.com that the fighter is fully licensed and insured to drive a car.
