The spotlight following Mickey Gall is going to get that much more scalding, now that the welterweight took out Mike Jackson at UFC FN 82.
Gall was booked to fight Jackson after he called out CM Punk, following a victory he recently earned during the filming of Dana White’s “Lookin’ For a Fight”. Heading into last night’s card, White announced that if Gall won, he would welcome Punk in his UFC debut.
Well, Gall quickly won the bout, and Punk was brought into the Octagon to promote their upcoming fight. The two exchanged words out of microphone range, and Gall had this to say about the interaction afterwards (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“It was like small talk – soccer-mom small talk,” Gall said. “It was nothing.”
“I respect that dude. He made himself a superstar. But it’s a big fight for me. I get to beat up a superstar. That’s what I’m going to do.”
White has said the fight will likely be part of UFC 199 in June, although Punk wants it to take place at UFC 200 one month later.
