Former light-heavyweight champs Rashad Evans and “Shogun” Rua appear to be on a collision course, as according to new reports, the UFC is working on a April 16th bout between the two.

CombateĀ was the first to report the planned match-up, and MMA Fighting.com has also confirmed with sources that the fight is being targeted. The event is expected to be UFC on FOX 19, however, a venue and location for it has yet to be determined.

Evans (19-4-1) fought for the first time since 2013 this past October, and lost via unanimous decision to Ryan Bader.

Rua (23-10), meanwhile, returned to the win column last August by earning a decision win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Prior to that he was taken out by Ovince Saint Preux and Dan Henderson in consecutive bouts.

So, there you have it. That’s a pivotal fight for both men.
