Jones made the comment after it was announced that Fabricio Werdum had also dropped out UFC 196, and would not face Miocic, who was replacing Cain Velasquez. Apparently, for some reason, this started a rumor that Miocic had turned down a fight with Jones…
Well, Miocic’s manager George Kalikas recently told MMA Fighting.com that “for a fact”, no such fight was tabled. Kalikas also said that they’re hoping to face Werdum next, since they’re not sure how long Velasquez will be sidelined.
Meanwhile, Mr. Miocic also had this to say on Twitter:
Oh and for the record I didn't turn down shit. I took a championship fight on 2 weeks notice and it got cancelled. That's the end of it.
