If you’ve been questioning whether you’ll still shell out cash for UFC 196, after the revelation it will no longer feature a heavyweight title fight, well, you don’t have to worry about that any more.
According to a report from Yahoo Sports, UFC boss man Dana White has told the outlet that the February 6th card will no longer be a pay-per-view event, and will air on FOX Sports 1. The news comes not long after both Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum pulled out of the event due to injuries. They were supposed to fight in the main event.
White also confirmed that the scheduled scrap between welterweight contenders Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson is the new headliner.
So, while it sucks that we won’t get to see Werdum – Velasquez II, or Werdum – Miocic for that matter, at least the card won’t set you back right?
Other main card bouts scheduled for the card include Roy Nelson vs. Jared Rosholt, Ovince Saint Preux vs. Rafael Cavalcante, and Joseph Benavidez vs. Zach Makovsky.
