Jose Aldo continues to insist that his next fight be for the UFC’s 145 title, and according to his coach, the former champ’s willing to wait quite a while until that happens
Since Aldo was bombed out by Conor McGregor at UFC 194 last month, the storied fighter has been campaigning for an immediate rematch. But, as you know, McGregor is going to fight lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos on March 5th. Then, most people believe, he’ll be called on to fight Frankie Edgar.
Well, recently Aldo’s coach, Andre Pederneiras, spoke with the media in Brazil. When asked about the fact that waiting for a title fight could mean Aldo’s sidelined for a year, he stated:
“What I can say is that that’s our idea right now,”Pederneiras said. “It might change tomorrow, but that’s our idea right now.”
“Aldo believes he has this right, and so do I,” he added. “He will only fight for the belt. The champion he was, undefeated for 10 years, he thinks he has the same right others had…”
There you have it. It looks like we won’t be seeing Aldo fight again any time soon, unless something unexpected happens.
