Frankie Edgar hasn’t been shy about the fact that he wanted to fight Conor McGregor next, and recently the latter argued that the former lightweight champ is acting desperate…Ya, if you’re an Edgar fan, you’re not going to like this.
Edgar stopped Chad Mendes in December in what was billed as title shot eliminator at 145. But, after McGregor took the featherweight crown by taking out Jose Aldo, he asked for, and received, a fight with 155 champ Rafael dos Anjos.
Edgar isn’t happy about what’s gone down, and recently McGregor said this at a pre-UFC 197 press conference (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“Frankie has a little bit of desperation about him,” McGregor. “I don’t know. He went 0-2 at lightweight, got the chance to fight for the featherweight title and got the head slapped off him. Then he was running around, begging. It has a stink of desperation off of it.”
Wow. McGregor will face RDA on March 5th.
