Corey Hill Wins in Return From Leg Injury, Luigi Fioravanti Also Victorious

Corey Hill, a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter 5 and former UFC lightweight, returned to action on Saturday for the first time since suffering a gruesome leg fracture to end a December 2008 UFC bout against Dale Hartt, defeating Jason Trzewieczynski by unanimous decision in a featured contest at Raging Wolf 6 in Niagara Fall, New York.
UFC veteran Luigi Fioravanti was also victorious at the event, topping The Ultimate Fighter 8 contestant Shane Primm by unanimous decision.

have the ufc let him go then or just let him have a few fights to see how his legs fairs up?
I think that Dana and Corey both agreed he needed some “warm-up” fights before trying to get back into the octagon. I know he has stated numerous times that Dana and the UFC have stuck with him throughout the ordeal. Good for him getting the win.
No, he’s still signed to the UFC. They gave him a fight outside of the UFC to tune up. They did it with Melvin Guillard and Houston Alexander, too.

The guy has amazing heart. He was one of my favorites on the show that year. To come back from an injury like that says a lot. Good luck Cory.

That was a nasty injury. I can’t believe this guy came back but props to Corey and his future. UFC should take notice and have him back for at least one more fight.
no the ufc didn’t let him go, he chose to fight in a smaller promotion for a tune up and is supposed to fight in the ufc again. goodluck cory
I hope he comes back to the UFC possibly at welter weight. He is a bit too big for light weight in my opinion.

he would have to pack quite a bit of weight to compete in welter weight, hes a skinny guy… if i recall he didnt have to cut much if any weight while on the show…
the problems he creates with his height for guys at light weight is huge… i cant wait to see what he can do, hes still got a ton of potential and was like a sponge on the show getting as much out of it as possible…

There’s no regulation in Alabama, but events still occur there. It’s where Ray Mercer knocked Tim Sylvia out. That fight got moved to Alabama because New Jersey wouldn’t sanction it.
Didn’t the “great” state of Alabama also host some sort of celebrity throwdown wherein this has-been rapper asked to step in against his middle-aged manager or some sh!t like that?

And MMA just recently got the thumbs up from the Hawaiian statehouse and the Governor’s mansion, and MMA has been thriving in the Islands since the late ’90′s in one form or another…

No, lex, but I lived on Oahu for quite awhile when I was younger, and head back there every year to vacation, anywhere from 2-6 weeks, with my family.
Last year sadly was the first year in several I spent maybe 10 days in Hawaii, and some of that was because of the jcohl project.
My work schedule has really picked up, and I just don’t have the time that I used to for snoozing the day away in a hammock at my cousin’s Waipahu place…

MMA is currently banned in the state of NY. However, it is legal on the sovereign territory of the Seneca Nation, which is where the event took place.
You know if new hampshire has the same sovereign policies?Only ask because i’ve seen a few fights here but someone told it’s not supossed to be sanctioned in NH.I guess i really don’t know what sanctioned means.
Sanctioned means that the states government pass laws to regulated the sport and nominated a comittee or governing body to preside over the events of the sport. Most states use the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts which was created in New Jersey, which was the first state to regualte and Sanction the Sport. Some places like New York still have not Decrimminalized MMA but events still happened there, like on Indian Reservations or if the promotion doesnt have any professional Fights. The main difference between a professional and amature fight is in a amature fighter does not get paid for the fight, the fighter usually ends up the promotion to fight in it.
