- A middleweight rematch pitting Mamed Khalidov against Sengoku Raiden Championships title holder Jorge Santiago has been set for World Victory Road’s March 7 SRC event in Tokyo, according to KSW. The two previously met at Sengoku 11 in a non-title affair, which saw Khalidov earn a TKO victory over Santiago, halting Santiago’s nine fight winning streak. Khalidov will be looking to continue his twelve fight winning streak.
Also added to the SRC 12 is the the lightweight King of Pancrase Maximo Blanco. Blanco has a record of 4-2-1-1, and is riding a two fight winning streak, consisting of TKO victories over Katsuya Inoue and Tetsuya Yamada.
- American MMA promotion King of the Cage will be making it’s maiden journey to Japan on January 30, holding “King of the Cage: Toryumon” at the Okinawa Convention Center in Naha, Okinawa. The event will feature two King of the Cage championship bouts, Toney Hervey will take on Kotetsu Boku for the promotion’s lightweight title, and Frank Baca will face Mamoru Yamaguchi for the promotion’s junior flyweight belt.
Other notables in action on the card include Toby Imada taking on Kiichi Kunimoto, and Roxanne Modaferri’s return to action against Molly Hensel. Imada is well known for his submission of the year win against Jorge Masvidal at Bellator 5, though he lost his last fight against Eddie Alvarez at Bellator 12. Modaferri was last in action stepping in as a late replacement for Erin Toughill against Marloes Coenen at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers”
- Following his post-fight antics at Dynamite!! 2009 Shinya Aoki will no longer be an instructor at the Paraestra Tokyo in Japan. Aoki will still be able to train at the camp, but general manager Yuki Nakai was displeased that the fighter had flipped off his defeated foe, Mizuto Hirota, after breaking his arm in their New Years Eve contest.
