If your forecast for 2016 doesn’t include Michael Bisping fighting for the UFC middleweight title, well, “The Count” clearly has a different vision then you…
As the year begins, Bisping is currently ranked #7 in the 185 division, and the British star is coming off consecutive wins over CB Dollaway and Thales Leites. Those victories followed his November, 2014, scrap with now reigning champ, Luke Rockhold, who submitted Bisping in round two.
Up next, Bisping has been booked to fight former champ Anderson Silva at UFC Fight Night 83 on February. According to a report from MMA Junkie, recently Bisping announced on his radio show that he plans to “destroy” Silva and get “the people of London” demanding he gets a title shot (the card is going down in London). Bisping also reportedly had this to say as well:
“I do believe that Luke Rockhold is going to be in the building when I fight Anderson Silva,” Bisping said. “Luke Rockhold and I have some unfinished business. He head-butted me in the first round. That’s what I’m looking for. Will the UFC give it to me? Probably not, but I’m going to try. I’m going to try.”
Now, really, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear Bisping saying this. The part about him not getting a title shot is probably accurate as well. Really, even if Bisping absolutely starches Silva, some other things would have to fall in or out of place, before he’d get tapped for a rematch with Rockhold.
With Yoel Romero possibly looking at a suspension, one would think Vitor Belfort is the front runner right now to face Rockhold next. Although, what if Silva bombs out Bisping? Could Rockhold – Silva be next?
