It remains to be seen what the future holds for Nick Diaz, now that he’s eligible to fight again in August, but could a title fight with Robbie Lawler go down? Possibly?
As you likely heard, recently the Nevada Commission decided to dramatically slash Diaz’s five year suspension to 18 months. As a result, the star could be booked to fight again by mid 2016.
Recently White was asked by a fan on Twitter about the possibility of Lawler – Diaz II going down sometime this year, and the UFC President said “I like it”.
Sure, none of this means it will happen, or happen next (Diaz hasn’t won a bout since 2011), but it’s certainly a fight that would be huge. The outspoken fighter KO’d Lawler way back in 2004 at UFC 47.
The welterweight champ Lawler is coming off a razor thin, split decision win over Carlos Condit earlier this month.
