UFC Signs Undefeated Heavyweight Chad Corvin

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Chad Corvin has signed with the UFC, the fighter recently announced via ProMMA.info. Terms of his contract were not revealed and a date for his debut has yet to be determined.
Corvin (6-0) has stopped all of his opponents in under two-minutes, including 19- and 28-second knockouts in 2008. The 6-foot 5-inch, 250-plus pound fighter has most-recently competed in Florida-based XFC, but hasn’t fought since a first-round TKO of Scott Barret in February.

how many top heavyweights does the ufc need.. strikeforce should have tried to get this guy.. they have virtually no heavyweights and the ufc has rediculous amounts of talent at the heavyweight division.. but hey great pickup for ufc.. throw him in there with kimbo or yvel
Strikeforce might of tried to get him. UFC is the bigger name.
So Strikeforce has the “supposedly best heavy weight in the world”, but no real competition for him….just the old UFC scraps….looks like they added another one…that top talent Wes Sims. And the UFC adds Corvin.
DON’T NO MUCH ABOUT THIS GUY BUT GLAD TO PUT HIM IN THE MIX WITH THE REST OF THE HEAVY WEIGHTS IN THE UFC.
I was there SCOTT BARRETT was in control of match until his knee went out match was referee stoppage due to injury Corbin was lying on other side of ring would love to see a rematch between these two fighters
@ russoc13 – in response to your rhetorical question of “how many top HWs does the UFC need?”, I feel secure going with the Dana White answer:
“Fu<king ALL of them. We have the best motherfu<king HWs on the planet. And we always will. Forget Fedor, he's old news. He's dead and buried like the Soviet Union. The guy probably couldn't hang with my boy Frank Mir, so forget about comparing him to Brock Fu<king Lesnar."
And yeah, this is how the rich get richer.
Strikeforce, who desperately needs SOMEONE to contrast against Fedor to re-qualify him to today's MMA fan as the "best HW EVA!", signs Wes Sims to face pro wrestler Bobby Lashley, is featuring Herschel Walker against Greg Nagy, and is estatic to have guys like Werdum and Bigfoot Silva in-house.
And still no word on whether or not their HW champion Alistair Overeem can be bothered to defend his title against Fedor anytime soon.
The true future of the Strikeforce HW class is Shane Del Rosario, and IMO they need to put at least as much effort into promoting him as they do Lashley and Walker.
The UFC on the other hand just keeps on signing more and more of these aggressive 250+ pounders, like Chad Corvin, thereby turning their HW class into a de facto super HW class, or more accurately, something new and inbetween HW and super HW, something like a bruiserweight class, full of raging mansters and manimals all looking to tear into each other in the Octagon, and eventually challange MMA alpha male Brock Lesnar for HW supremacy.
With the UFC's HW division looking more and more like a gorilla fight scene from a Planet of the Apes flick, is it any wonder that Fedor didn't seem too upset to see M-1 Global sign with Strikeforce?
If Brett Rogers bloodied Fedor, someone like Carwin would do far worse.
And don't even get me started again on Fedor-Lesnar in the cage…
;)
AMEN!!!!!
Fedor would beat all the ufc heavyweights period.
@ mmaman – lets not turn this into ANOTHER Fedor versus the entire UFC HW roster thread, OK?
We’ve done that here at the frenZy at least a dozen or more times before, and there are those that buy into the Fedor thing and those of us that don’t.
‘Nuff said.
Maybe I shouldn’t have specifically referenced Fedor in my post, because invariably someone feels obligated to post under me that they think Fedor is unbeatable, best MMA HW EVA, best p4p MMA fighter on the planet, is faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, etc.
It’s all been posted and read before, and really to no one’s benefit, so lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
Peace…
Why can’t we turn it into a Fedor vs UFC roster debate. Aren’t forums like these specifically designed for us fans to surmise and potificate over such matters as many times as our hearts desire.
I get that you might be bored about the issue but guess what buddy, boredom is a two way thing.
@ jpmm – I’ll tell you exactly WHY we shouldn’t turn THIS particular thread into another “Fedor versus the UFC roster” debate, buddy, and thats because A) its off topic, and we’re asked by the frenZY to stay on topic, and B) This isn’t the forum, its the main page. I welcome anyone to join us at the forum, but be warned. We tend to actually know our sh!t over there [not saying that you don't], and the uninititiated aren’t as quickly protected from posted shrapnel by the mods as they are here on the main page. Trolls are not easily suffered, not that I’m saying that you’re a troll, so newcomers can sometimes be a bit…overwhelmed, but as always all are welcome.
We clear?
:)
@mmaman,
How can you say Fedor would beat anybody in the UFC??? Fedor has become a joke, here are his last 5 fights. Stop being a Troll
Nov-2009 Win – Rogers(Brett would get beat by Roy Nelson at this point)
Jan-2009 Win – Arlovski(UFC Has been, right now and at that time would get beat by most of UFC HW roster)
July-2008 Win – Tim Sylvia (HAHAHAH enough said, he couldn’t clean the UFC locker rooms right now or at the time of the fight)
Dec-2007 Win – Choi (Overall Recored 2-3, he just fought Canseco, his wins are over circus side shows)
Apr-2007 – Lindland (only one win in last 4 fights, would get killed by almost anyone on current UFC HW Roster)
jcohl I don’t think anyone wants to get you started, or tried to get you started.. then again nobody needs to ask you to repeat your Fedor opinions, you just seem to regurgitate them at any possible opportunity regardless of provocation.
Haven’t you been warned enough times by the mods about personal attacks and unwelcome comments?
Haven’t enough of us redirected you enough times that by now you should have SOME clue about how to post here at the frenZy?
Plain and simple, stick to MMA, and its all good.
Directing comments at other posters is NOT what you’re real good at, so try avoiding it so that you can avoid ANOTHER moderation.
Start giving people sh!t again here, and you’ll find yourself AGAIN in the poor graces of the staff.
Or do you just have a criminally short memory?
Peace…
Vinz:
Going back and reading over it, while jcohl brought up the name of Fedor, it was more tangentially than “your Fedor opinions”. He brought up what he thought Dana would say (and personally, I don’t think he’s too far off, whether it’s what Dana thinks or not is much more uncertain), and then in reference to the heavyweight division in Strikeforce, where he is far and away, the most well-known name. It was mmaman who started the Fedor pimping which will inevitably lead to the shouting matches that no one wants to read but everyone will also contribute to.
While jcohl will tend to “regurgitate” opinions on anything from Fedor to food to the contents of BJ Penn’s sock drawer if you asked him, in this case, flame war did not start from him.
I would also like to invite you to the forums to continue this discussion if you’re a registered user.
Jcohl:
Sometimes, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all. That’s what the bigger man does.
Congrats to Chad Corvin, I will be supporting the local Ky Boy! Landon Helm and Club Fit MMA
Fedor is good but some of these heavies in the ufc out weigh him by like 40 to 50 lbs.sooner or later his size would catch up to him, because not only do the lesnar carwins mirs etc of the ufc out weigh him they all have some good skills in one form or other…these guys are no hung cho fooeys like that big 7ft jap he beat they have some real talent and alot of them are as light on there feet as he is..rogers almost had him until fedor caught him with the stiff right hand..i just wish fedor would realize hes not getting any younger and bend his pride a little and take an offer from the ufc at some point before he gets 40 or 45 and over the hill or else we will all be talking then about what could have been some great match ups but instead seatling for a past his prime fedor vs the next big thing of the time in 5 or ten years or so……..look at coleman and randy in there fight……….ten years too late but oh well.
