Remember when several months ago BJ Penn announced he’d come out of retirement to fight Nik Lentz? Well, not only has the legend repeated that challenge, it looks like he’s going to be doing some training at the renowned Jackson-Wink MMA gym…
After Penn and nutritionist / trainer Mike Dolce had words several months back, the former lightweight and welterweight champ said he wanted to scrap with the latter’s “boy”, Lentz. “The Carny” said he was down to fight Penn, and also authored a poem about the Hawaiian fighter that quickly made the rounds.
Well, recently Penn posted a picture of him standing with renowned coach, Greg Jackson, who has since confirmed that the “Prodigy” will be doing some training at their gym. Penn has also posted a follow up pic, and the aforementioned challenge for Lentz.
@niklentz this is a formal challenge for Nik Lentz to meet me in the octagon March 5th in Las Vegas. Nik you wrote a silly poem about me making fun of me, you said stuff about me and my parents, and you been making a #bringpennback hashtag, I ask you today to be a man and back up everything you said, talk the talk walk the walk , uncle BJ is mad already #youout #bringpennback #hiloboys #hawaii #allhawaii
This good get pretty interesting no? Now it remains to be seen if the UFC and Dana White sign off on a comeback for Penn. After he was decisively beaten by Frankie Edgar in 2014, White called on Penn to retire.
The 37 year-old fighter hasn’t won a bout since 2010 when he took out Matt Hughes in their rubber match.
