Dana White Insists Ronda Rousey Will be Back in The Octagon

Dana White has confirmed that Holly Holm is not facing Ronda Rousey next, but that doesn’t mean anything’s changed, in terms of the latter’s plans to fight again.

On Wednesday, White buzzed the MMA world by announcing that Holm is going to fight in the interim, rather than wait for Rousey to return. After Holm bombed out Rousey at UFC 193 in November, the UFC brass said they wanted to book an immediate rematch.

Since Rousey announced she wasn’t going to fight before summer, however, the promotion was hoping to have Holm – Rousey II headline UFC 200 in July. Holm’s camp wants her to fight, rather than wait on the sidelines, however, and apparently they got their wish.

Well, during the latest “UFC Tonight” White was also asked about Rousey, and her future with the UFC. The promotion’s president stated (quote via press release):

“You will see Ronda Rousey fight again. She’s dedicated the last three years to working hard, fighting, promoting, and taking the UFC to the next level. She’s taking some well-deserved time off. But you’ll see her fight again.”

Of course, this is in keeping with comments Rousey has made, in regards to needing some time off  to recover and to take care of some acting gigs as well. It’s pretty hard to imagine Rousey changing her mind and not mounting a comeback, considering all she’s accomplished in combat sports.

The big question is, however, whether Holm will still be the champ when Rousey returns. The UFC hasn’t said who the vaunted striker will fight next. Could it be Miesha Tate? One would think so right?
