Everyone understood that Nate Diaz had a lot to gain if he defeated lightweight contender Michael Johnson at UFC on FOX 17, and the outspoken fighter has leaped up the ranks as expected.

Diaz used his vaunted boxing game to outscore Johnson for the unanimous decision win on Saturday. Heading into the bout, Johnson was ranked #6 and Diaz was sitting at #15. Well, the new rankings have been posted, and Diaz has jumped up 7 spots and is ranked #8. Johnson remains in the same spot.

Another big winner on Saturday was lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos, who cruised through Donald Cerrone in 66 seconds. RDA can’t rise any higher in the lightweight ranks, obviously, but he did rise two spots in the Pound-For-Pound division. The champ is now #8 and deservedly so.

Alistair Overeem took out Junior dos Santos this weekend as well, and the “Reem” has moved four spots into the #5 ranking at heavyweight. JDS fell to #4.

UFC on FOX 17 went down in Orlando, Florida.
