Brock Lesnar Will “Definitely” Fight Again, Dan Henderson Confirms Jake Shields for Strikeforce Debut on ESPN’s MMA Live
On the latest installment of ESPN’s MMA Live, released Thursday afternoon, Brock Lesnar’s trainer, Greg Nelson, confirmed that the UFC heavyweight champion will “definitely” fight again and has resumed training, but that an exact timetable hasn’t been determined for his return to the Octagon.
The UFC will hold a press conference next week in Las Vegas and Lesnar will be in attendance to provide an official update on his health.
Former UFC fighter Dan Henderson also appeared on the show and confirmed that he’ll make his Strikeforce debut against Jake Shields for the middleweight title.
Henderson and Shields are expected to fight at Strikeforce’s April event on CBS.

Great news, depending on your POV.
I read that as Hendo picking up gold, and Lesnar returning to silence his critics, and pound the living sh!t out of someone stupid enough to step into the cage with him…
Heck from either POV this should be welcomed news, which is why Lesnar brings in so much coin.
Different POV’s:
1)You like Lesnar: Well this is good news for you since you get to see him fight and possibly clear out the HW division
2)You dislike Lesnar: Also good news because the threat of him getting pwned looms and with MMA, as everyone knows, on any given night any fighter can be beaten. And him getting beat in the Octagon is way more satisfying than him having to bow out due to an illness that is beyond his control.
3) Or, you’re Dana F***ing White: You’re happy because PPVs will sky rocket and that means: MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!
Ya I see a beating on the horizon for Mr. Shields and as for Lesnar I hope he keeps his belt. Then comes back to face the Carwin/Mir winner or if it takes him longer to return and fight the winner of Nog/Cain vs Mir/Shane.
If/when Hendo beats sheilds for the middle weight belt, do you think shield will move back down to welterweight? Maybe fight the winner of Diaz/lil cro cop? Or fight Herion for #1 contender? Wish we could see a shields GSP fight.
HE should move back down to WW, he is pretty dang small for 185.
IMO Shields should DEFINITELY drop to 170, where his skills will better serve him.
Plus, its not like a loss to Hendo will seriously hurt Shields career, when you factor in the relative difference in their careers to date. Shields will have a longer time to make his mark in our sport, and expand his skillset past his over-reliance on American Jiu-Jitsu…
A fight with Diaz is not likely, since they train together.
well, i wish lesnar wouldnt fight anymore, but i think if he does and frank mir wins the interim title than lesnar should fight someone before he fights mir again i dont think that anyone in the ufc should fight the same person twice in a row. But now after seeing mir vs kongo i think frank would put a up a good fight for lesnar. lesnars just big and lays on top of people i dont think he can strike with mir and i know mir is more dangerous on the ground. And i think that jake sheilds will be a good match for dan henderson but i think henderson will probably knock him out hes got a big right hand. and hes knocked people out with his left hand also like wanderlia silva. any where the fight goes henderson will control it garenteed
I dont know why you would want to see lesner fight again. I mean i dont like the man, but i would like to see him fight again (mostly to lose) but i wouldnt mind seeing him make a tear in the division also though. The man can fight, he does more than lay on top of people. He hits them with hands the size of lunch boxes and if you didnt see lesner vs mir 2 you should have because mir head looked like it was going to snap at the neck he was getting hit so hard
Wouldn’t*
I don’t believe that is the case in ANY of Lesnar’s fights, he doesn’t “Lay N Pray”, you must be talking about the Herring fight or when he Ko’d Couture, or Brock SMASH’d Mir (in their second fight) com’on now
IMO – Hendo will beat shields then move up and beat a TOUGH Mousasi.. and be like the Hendo of Pride, with 2 belts.. Im not saying Hendo over Mousassi is a given, just think it will happen…
As for MMA Live.. fighter of the yr is Jose Aldo?!? Are you kidding me?! Sure the guy is a great fighter, very impressive.. but besides Mike Brown, who has he defeated??!! NO ONE GOOD! The best fighter of 2009 is hands down Machida… when the list of guys you defeated are Thiago Silva, Rashad Evans and Shogun Rua (who yes, I think Rua won.. but the win goes under Machida)… you need to be recognized as the best…
Did you happen to see the double flying knee that he gave Cub Swanson?
Jason N,
Let me get this straight, no offense I just have a question
You don’t approve of Aldo as “fighter of the year”, but you say Machida is fighter of the year? Even with all the controversy surrounded his “title defense”? That’s a bold statement dude especially since in the eyes of 85% of mma fans(15% bet on mchida), shogun won the fight.
That was a great MMA Live episode and i thank Kris Karkowski for putting it up.
Am I the only one who thinks the instant classic Nate Quarry vs Tim Credeur was the REAL fight of the year?
p.s good to hear walker’s got some real respect for the sport and that he’s attempting to go about this transition in “the right way”. BUT i’m automatically not a fan since he’s training at AKA. Guilty by Association dude!
I did see the double flying knee to Cub… I also saw Jens Pulver make Cub tap in like 15 seconds to a choke… whats your point? Cub is horrible… my point is.. although Aldo is a STUD and will beat Faber, he, in my eyes, is not the best fighter of the yr because of the competition he has. Is that his fault? No… but to say a guy who beat a bunch of no namers is better than a guy who beat the upper echelon of his division…is crap… Its like saying Boise State SHOULD be the national champion team because they went undefeated and beat an undefeated team in a bowl game…. but thats a diff story… point is, I go off of who you beat this yr.. not how.. or how many… I prob wouldnt have Aldo in my top 3…but am I saying I think Aldo is garbage? No.. just saying the level of competition.. is like comparing HS football to NFL..
I see your point dude
Brock is a beast theres no doubt about it, but theres sumthing not right in his head. The lights are on but no ones home. Look Brock, when guys sit down to talk about you all they say is three things, big a hell, strong as an ox,
and o you mean that wwe guy whose on steriods. Look it doesnt take a genious to understand that sometimes genetics has a limit. I dont think hes dumb enough to still be doing them. But look at the facts, former WWE wrestler- ROIDS, Got way bigger when he started Pro Wrestling- ROIDS, and lastly got alot less mass when he decided to get off them and jump into MMA. I like Brock as much as the next guy but Brock just admit it finally that you did them in the past. Cause in the future MMA doesnt need a Mark McGwire situation. You look like a fool when you deny it Brock so come clean. Do it for the sport.Line to Line there really is no need for that stuff. This thread isn’t about anything but Lesnar’s return to the MMA scene, the roid talk should be toned down
Edit~ FR702
Also, just as an FYI, we don’t do that here at the frenZy, and by “that” I mean fighter-bash, such as “so and so does PEDs”, or “this fighter is a pu$$y” or whatever.
If you think the Lesnar’s skills are weak, say so. If you think the guy lacks the mental capacity, cardio, heart, whatever, for MMA, then again say so.
But please be prepared to back up your POV with FACTS, and not opinions.
Facts we love discussing all day here at the frenZy, and Kris is happy to provide a place for us to reasonably and civilly do so, and Justin and fr702 kindly “referee” our interactions to keep things frosty.
If you just want to type and rant, there are sites out there who tolerate and even welcome that sort of thing, but the frenZy isn’t one of them.
Peace…
I saw the Quarry, Crueder fight live and it was definately an awesome fight. I think Sanchez vs Guida was the fight of the year though. I think Aldo was the most dominating fighter of anyone in any division so I can’t disagree with that call.
