Din Thomas To Undergo Surgery, Out for Four Months
Din Thomas, who was submitted by Kenny Florian in the main event of UFC Fight Night 11, will be out of action for at least four months. Thomas sustained the injury in the first round of his bout against Florian when he attempted to shoot in for a takedown. The injury caused Thomas to cover up and ultimately submit before the round ended as a direct result of the injury.
After undergoing an MRI he is expected to have surgery to repair the damage:
Results from an MRI showed that Thomas suffered a torn meniscus, stretched anterior cruciate ligament, and bruised femur and tibia. Thomas is going to see a knee specialist in Atlanta next week. He will likely have arthroscopic surgery performed within the next two weeks.
Following the surgery, Thomas will have to undergo at least two weeks of rehabilitation before he will be able to resume training.
A rematch may be on the horizon once Thomas is healed as fans and Thomas himself have called for another bout against Florian.

That’s what he gets for taunting Kenny. You don’t taunt a guy who went 5 rounds with the Roid Shark.
Din Thomas is one of the better fighters in the Lightweight Division. I don’t think that he deserves a rematch with Kenny Florian. He lost and now has to work his way back up the ladder. I think Din Thomas would be a good fight for Diego Sanchez’s Lightweight debut, if Diego does drop down to 155.
i think they should meet again.its only right he gets a chance to fight k flo to see who comes out with the win without an injury could be a good fight
I feel no sympathy for Din, and I don’t think of him as a good fighter as well. Why did he shoot for a takedown as far away as he was from Kenny, that made no sense, that is why his knee is messed up. While Kenny was on Din’s back he could have made some effort to get him off or defend himself.
I think that may be why he was going to the ground is his knee was out. I would like to see these two fight a 100%. It would be a great match. Just like I would like to see (pardon the spelling) Manny Gamburian vs. Nate Diaz happen. Both fights were basicaly no contests that awarded a victor. I agree with the decisions to let the fighters tap, but let them come back some day to try again.
