UFC Vet Fickett Added to HDNet Fights Lineup
UFC veteran Drew Fickett has been added to HDNet Fights’ October 13th event in Dallas. He will face Anthony Lapsley in a co-main event.
Fickett will enter the fight as the most experienced fighter on the entire card, compiling a 29-5 MMA record since turning pro in 1999. In his time with the UFC Fickett scored a number of wins but came up short against his toughest competition. After a debut loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 51, Fickett earned victories over Josh Neer at UFC Fight Night 1 and Josh Koscheck at UFC Fight Night 2. In his next bout he was submitted early in the third round by Josh Burkman at UFC Fight Night 3. He next defeated Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 61 before Karo Parisyan handed him his second UFC loss at UFC Fight Night 7. In his last fight he was victorious defeating Keita Nakamura at UFC Fight Night 9 in April of this year.
Following the win Fickett was called on to fill in for Jeff Joslin against Chris Lytle at UFC 73 but Fickett ultimately had to withdraw from the bout as well after suffering a knee injury.
His opponent, Anthony Lapsley, has a 10-2 MMA record and has just been pro for just over a year. He defeated Brent Weedman in his last fight, a United Fight League card in August.

I know the UFC lets their non superstars fight in other organizations, so long as they are approved by the UFC. Is Drew Fickett still apart of the UFC? Is he fighting in an ‘approved’ organization?
To be quite honest I am not sure as of now. I am looking into it but based on his popularity and that he was just called on to fight at UFC 73 (even though he had to withdraw) it’s my best guess he is still with them but I’ll post an update when I get news.
Drew Fickett is a decent to good fighter. I enjoy his antics sometimes. The guy knows how to use his mouth and he knows how to fight. I think that he will be fighting for the UFC again. I couldn’t believe it, when I saw him beat Josh Koscheck with only about twenty seconds left in the fight. Fickett is a tough dude.
His debut was against Nick Diaz. UFC 51
Thanks for the heads up, for some reason I always leave the fight off his record, it’s fixed now.
I hope he’s not out of The U. I like Drew Fickett, even though he beat my hometown boy The Dentist
