UFC 194: Conor McGregor Says “Within Four Minutes” Victory Cinching Shots Will Have Landed

Conor McGregor has repeatedly stated that he will finish Jose Aldo and will do so quickly, and the brash fighter isn’t walking back from those statements as UFC 194 nears.

Since Aldo hasn’t been defeated in 10 years, and is the only featherweight champ the UFC has known, people aren’t accustomed to hearing predictions that he’ll be taken out. McGregor started turning heads by making this call months ago, and at the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, “Notorious” said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I feel within four minutes the shots will have landed,” McGregor said. “It’s on him after that. I feel anything after that four-minute mark of the first round will be a formality. It will be on him where he is mentally, where he is physically and how much he truly wants this. I see him crumbling towards the end of the first or not answering the bell for the second. But it will be wrapped up inside one.”

There you have it. Of course, it’s going to be an edge of your seat kind of night, but it will be fascinating to see how McGregor looks, if this goes into the fourth and fifth rounds. Aldo has chartered those waters many times before, but we have yet to see McGregor hit the 16, 21 minute mark. Based off McGregor’s approach, it’s kind of hard to imagine it going that long no? Win or lose.

UFC 194 will go down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and in the co-main event, middleweight champ Chris Weidman will take on Luke Rockhold.
