A middleweight bout between Nate Quarry and Jorge Rivera is in the works for UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31 in North Carolina, according to MMAjunkie.
Following a loss to middleweight champ Rich Franklin in 2005, Quarry (12-3) was sidelined for nearly two years as he recovered from back surgery before returning in 2007 and scoring wins over Pete Sell and Kalib Starnes. After losing to Demian Maia in late-2008, “The Rock” has rebounded with a first-round TKO of Jason MacDonald last April before earning “Fight of the Night” honors in a decision win over Tim Credeur in September.
Rivera (17-7) bounced back from a June 2008 loss to Martin Kampmann with back-to-back wins in 2009 over Nissen Osterneck in April and Rob Kimmons in October.
UFC Fight Night 21 airs live on Spike as the lead-in for the debut of The Ultimate Fighter 11, featuring coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, but a location has yet to be determined for the card.
