UFC 76 Salaries and Bonuses
The California State Athletic Commission has released the official fighter salaries for UFC 76. As always these salaries do not include all money made by the fighters and are simply the amounts Zuffa is required to report to the sanctioning commission.
In addition to the salaries below $40,000 awards for the event were also handed out. Tyson Griffin and Thiago Tavares took home the bonus for “Fight of the Night” and Forrest Griffin was awarded “Submission of the Night”. No “Knockout of the Night” was awarded as there were none on the card.

Paying Jardine and Griffin those amounts compared to the amount of money that Shogun and Chuck recieved is a crime. I hope that Zuffa gives them both a large (extremely large) bonus for the show that they both put on. All fighters should watch these to fights while trainning to prove to themselves that the sport is 70% HEART AND DESIRE TO WIN. Skills have gotten Chuck, Rua, and many other fighters the star status, but lack of heart and desire has caused them recent loses. They need to ignite the flame again. It is starting to show that larger paydays for big names seems to goto their heads. If everybody fights for an equal purse for a win, I think we will get some amazing BATTLES.
Chuck got more than half the payout. Kinda crazy…I guess he is the face of the UFC though…even with the loses.
I found that interesting too but I think him not getting a bonus to win is why his base was so high and looks so out of place with all the other salaries.
How can the salaries be justified there is such a big difference between Liddell and Jardines wage packet, I wouldnt mind but Both were coming off losses so to pay Jardine such a small amount for headlining the event in my opinion is a crime. This debate im sure will run for a long time but the fighters salaries do need to be addressed.
oh i bet Jardins will be higher next time…. not to many people have beat chuck.
I wonder when Liddell’s contract is coming to an end; how much would the UFC pay him as a base in terms of showing up and how how much of a win bonus might he get? When Liddell does get a new contract after his current one expires; I assume he will not get a guaranteed $500,000 salary and I assume it would be less, but he would probably have the potential for a win bonus. He shoudl be paid the most; he most the most recognizable MMA fighter in the world; Liddell deserves it.
What a rip on Jardine. Chuck is obiously in the inner UFC circle by getting a payday like that. Him and a few other are some of the few that get paid a straight pay, no show or win pay. Some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head are Matt Hughes, Randy Couture and Chuck.
