A lightweight bout between KJ Noons and Billy Evangelista and a welterweight matchup between Jay Hieron and Joe Riggs are likely for “Strikeforce: Miami” on January 30 in Sunrise, Florida, according to MMA Mania and MMAjunkie.
Noons (7-2) is the former EliteXC lightweight champion and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, but has not fought in MMA since a June 2008 victory over Yves Edwards. Evangelista (10-0) remained unbeaten and improved to 10-0 with a unanimous decision win over Jorge Gurgel in November.
Hieron (18-4), the former IFL welterweight title-holder,made his Strikeforce debut in August with a unanimous decision over Jesse Taylor. Riggs (32-11), a UFC veteran and former WEC champ, has won three-straight, including wins over Luke Stewart and Phil Baroni.
Strikeforce: Miami features Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis for Strikeforce’s welterweight title and Strikeforce 145-pound women’s champ Cris “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marloes Coenen, as well the Strikeforce debuts on Bobby Lashley and Herschel Walker.
