Recently the MMA world was buzzed by the news Mirko “Cro Cop” won’t fight at UFC FN 79 and has retired, and the legendary heavyweight is making headlines once again…

As you’ve probably heard by now, yesterday “Cro Cop” reported he’s incurred a serious should injury, and that he’s decided to close the book on his fighting career. The 41 year-old was scheduled to fight Anthony Hamilton on November 21st.

Well, now news is breaking that “Cro Cop” wouldn’t have fought Hamilton regardless, since he’s been suspended for a potential anti-doping violation. According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, the UFC has released the following statement:

UFC announced today that a scheduled bout between Mirko Cro Cop and Anthony Hamilton in Seoul, South Korea has been canceled. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has notified both Mirko Cro Cop and UFC that he has been provisionally suspended at this time due to a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Cro Cop. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time in the process.

No specific information regarding the possible violation was relayed, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
