World Extreme Cagefighting has signed bantamweight Clint Godfrey, who will replace an injured Frank Gomez and debut against Wagnney Fabiano at WEC 46 on January 10 in Sacramento, California, the promotion recently announced.
Fabiano (12-2), the former IFL featherweight champion who is making his 135-pound debut in the upcoming matchup, defeated Akitoshi Tamura and Fredson Paixao in back-to-back bouts to begin his WEC career, but was upset by Mackens Semerzier in his most-recent fight in October.
Godfrey (11-1) brings an 11-fight win streak into his WEC debut, including a third-round submission due to strikes earlier this month in his most-recent bout.
WEC 46 is headlined by the lightweight championship unification between title-holders Jamie Varner and Ben Henderson and also features Raphael Assuncao vs. Urijah Faber and Mike Brown vs. Anthony Morrison.
