Is it me or dose the Kazuyuki Fujita vs. Alistair fight Overeem seem a bit lobsided in overeems direction?

  • Bsbiz says:

I can’t believe I’m up this early watching this… Shut up, Michael Schiavello.

  • Sokudjo seriously needs to retire. This card was awesome. Ufc seriously needs to take a lesson from the japanese organizations in Awe Factor. Mousasi destroyed goodridge. And overeem did great. when is he planning on taking on Fedor?

    • Justin says:

What do you mean, “in Awe Factor?” Are you talking about the theatrics of the introductions or the squash matches?

      • Robby says:

Why bother asking? He started out saying Sokoudjou needs to retire.

But If I was to guess I’d assume he’s talking about the entrances because watching the Mousasi/Goodridge “fight” is anything but enjoyable.

      • The japanese always throw great shows. Yes their fights might not mean much in the scheme of things but tht doesn’t mean they aren’t exciting. And come on sokudjo has been beat 3 or 4 times straight now. Thts not very good.

      • RussoC13 says:

he has only lost 2 straight.. although that isnt very good he has fought 3 fights in the past 3 months.. he is probably worn out.. and his last win came by KO of the one and only bob sapp.. tell me thats not impressive

the mousasi vs goodridge fight was rediculous.. horrible stoppage.. even though goodridge wasnt doing much but he definatly wasnt hurt at all.. i dont think mousasi even landed anything on the ground

    • EtherBunny says:

Overeem will take Fedor on only if they don’t do PED testing where the fight is located. Just a hunch though.

      • Why fight Fedor in Strikeforce when he probably makes way more money fighting in K-1? If I was him I wouldn’t bother fighting for Strikeforce either. He could fight Fedor in Japan and make significantly more money.

  • Eldiablo says:

Anyone else notice the complete lack of class Aoki displayed after separating a 20lbs lighter Hirota’s shoulder? I always associated Japanese MMA with class and respect, but that middle finger Aoki shot at Hirota was anything but that.

    • Barracuda888 says:

      Yeah Aoki did Hirota dirty

    • Justin says:

Apparently he let his emotions get to him. From what I could tell there was a lot of trash talk in the build up to the fight, plus that was the final match in the Dream vs. SRC competition, and it was all up to Aoki to win it for Dream, and as we know (and Schiavello pointed out) Aoki is very proud of being a Dream fighter. I do think it is pretty bad to flip a guy off, and then the crowd, following such a nasty break.

    • Robby says:

A 20lbs. lighter Hirota? You should go and check your info next time you post something that is completely false.

      • Eldiablo says:

Did you watch it live? ‘Cause I did and when they introduced Hirota he weighed in at 134lbs and Aoki weighed in at 155lbs. I thought it odd myself. Go watch the replay.

      • bigworthy says:

Eldiablo i thought i seen that too but can find a intro replay yet. The official weigh-in was Shinya Aoki 154lbs (69.8 kg) vs. Mizuto Hirota 152lbs (69 kg. So don’t have a clue where thoughs figures came from?

      • Eldiablo says:

ok I’m glad someone else saw that. All I could find were Japanese replays. I figured the guy was a last minute replacement as I don’t know much about Hirota.

      • Justin says:

Hirota is the Sengoku champ at 155 so it must have just been a typo by the broadcast team to put his weight up as being so low.

    • kali-boy says:

Very disrespectful, Aoki is probably the biggest Cry baby in Dream when he loses, but when he wins…No class…Nasty break

  • TC says:

Aoki’s submission made me sick ………it was kinda disgusting.

  • I say awe factore because pride always through a big show and this was a decent card with a good show. And y not have sokudjo retire. He’s lost like 4 str8. He can’t seem to pull one off. And the japanese have always thrown fights tht don’t have ne meaning but tht doesn’t mean they aren’t exciting. And I believe tht guys right. Overeem might be on peds…

    • Justin says:

Sokoudju has not lost four straight, he lost to Babalu in January, then beat Nortje and Sapp, now lost to Mousasi and Minowa.

There’s a difference between freak show fights like the Super Hulk Tournament and pure squash matches like Mousasi v. Goodridge and Ubereem vs. Fujita, or Ubereem vs. Thompson. Freak show fights have no “meaning” but they’re sometimes exciting and usually at least interesting. Squash matches are completely silly and only pad guys’ records and pockets.

Oh, and please at least try to spell things correctly, which is a reference to you saying “tht” and “str8″.

  • RussoC13 says:

thank you justin for reiterating my comment.. sokoudjous loss before the one last night was to mousasi.. and he KO’d bob sapp.. which is impressive.. love the last comment.. shrt hnd sux

  • fr702 says:

    Aoki’s explanation

“After my fight, I was excited, and so I did something rude that I should apologize for. But that showed just how excited I was over that fight… When I had his arm behind his back, I could feel it popping. I thought, ‘Well, this guy’s pride just won’t let him tap, will it?’ So without hesitation, I broke it. I heard it break, and I thought, ‘Ah, there, I just broke it.’ I was stopped afterward, but even if I hadn’t been, continuing to break it more would have been fine by me.”

“Dream got a solid win [with my victory over Hirota], so that was good, but we finished off Sengoku. Although Sengoku was already finished from the very beginning”

plus he said this about naming the submission hold after his BOSS

“Let’s name it ‘Keichi Sasahara 2010.’ Because Sasahara told me to take him out, so I went and did just that, and that’s why I figure I should name it after him.”

“When Sasahara tells me to go and do something, I do it, and that’s how I live my life. If Sasahara tells me to go to Strikeforce and take them out or ‘Go and kill that guy,’ I’m going to do it. Even if he tells me to go take out Tanigawa, I’d do that too.”

maybe that clears some things up
