Daniel Straus ended an 0-2 drought against Patricio “Pitbull” Freire tonight at Bellator 145, and in doing so, reclaimed the promotion’s featherweight title.
Straus hurt Freire badly early on by flooring him with a left hand, and managed to outscore the latter throughout much of the fight. Freire hung in there and came storming back in the fifth, but Straus received the UD win.
Lightweight champ Will Brooks ground-and-pound his way to a decision win over feared submission artist, Marcin Held. Following the bout, Brooks revealed he injured his knee early on, and that he didn’t trust he could fight standing.
